Ziro Honour Run 2025: A Tribute to Brave Soldiers

Itanagar, Oct 20: The Ziro Honour Run 2025 took place on Sunday, organized by the Indian Army as part of Operation Sadbhavana, in partnership with the Lower Subansiri District Administration. The event was met with enthusiastic participation from the public, showcasing a strong sense of patriotism.

Designed to honor the courageous soldiers of the 1962 Indo-China War, the run attracted over 600 participants, including individuals of all ages and armed forces personnel. The event featured three race categories: 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km, with prizes awarded to the top finishers in each category.

Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, graced the event as the chief guest. He praised the Indian Army and the district administration for organizing what he termed “more than just a race; it symbolizes endurance, trust, mutual respect, and love for the nation.”

Emphasizing the significance of fitness and moral integrity, he stated, “A healthy nation is built not only by champions but by every healthy citizen.” He encouraged the youth to reject alcoholism and drug abuse, advocating for discipline, education, and healthy living as the foundations of a robust society.

In conjunction with the Honour Run, a four-day ‘Shaurya Motorcycle Rally’ was conducted from October 14 to 17, traversing from Likabali Military Station in Lower Siang to the Neelam Tebi War Memorial in Keyi Panyor district, honoring the brave soldiers of the 1962 conflict.

Adding an emotional dimension to the event, families of Martyr Rifleman Neelam Tebi and Havildar Shere Thapa were invited and honored for their ultimate sacrifices.

The program also showcased vibrant cultural performances from the Apatani, Gorkha, and Sikh communities, along with martial arts displays by Army personnel, highlighting unity, discipline, and cultural harmony.

Notable attendees included Ziro-Hapoli MLA Hage Appa, Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme, Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra, senior administrative officials, department heads, PRI members, Army representatives, and a large gathering of local residents.

The Ziro Honour Run 2025 emerged as a proud celebration of patriotism, unity, and civil-military camaraderie, reinforcing the strong bond between the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the Indian Army.
